Gambling Act 2005

Gambling Act 2005 – Statement of Principles

Under newly reformed gambling laws the council will soon be responsible for licensing premises within South Tyneside where gambling takes place.

In order to help local businesses and residents understand the new licensing process, the council has produced a Gambling Act Statement of Principles. The statement was prepared after extensive public consultation and explains how fair and consistent licensing decisions will be made.

The statement was prepared in accordance with the provisions of statutory guidance and regulations. It was approved at a council meeting on 23 November 2006 and became effective for a period of 3 years from 3 January 2007.

Applications under the act can be submitted as of 21 May 2007.
