What to do if you have a problem with a licensed premises

If you have a complaint about noise from a premises, you can make a complaint to the council’s Environmental Health Service on 0191 4247904.  

If problem relates to any other issues which fall within the four Government's licensing objectives of:

  • Prevention of crime and disorder
  • Public safety
    Prevention of public nuisance
  • Protection of children from harm

You need to request a review of the premises by completing a Premises Licence application for review application form.  One copy of that form must be sent to the council, a copy must also be sent to the premises subject to your request for a review.  The council will hold a hearing at which any representations received can be heard in the presence of the objectors and the licensee.
