Follow these top tips on vehicle security from our parking team:
- Don't leave items on display and remove all valuables when you park
- Remove all satellite navigation equipment and any evidence that it is usually installed
- Lock all doors and close the windows and sunroof every time you leave your car unattended
- Install security devices such as immobilisers, steering wheel locks, alarms and locking wheel nuts
- Etch your vehicle registration number onto all windows, both windscreens and headlamps and mark your car stereo and any other equipment
- Use public car parks that are part of the police approved safer parking scheme. Look out for the Park Mark signs
- Park safely at home; use a garage if you have one or try to park in well-lit areas
- Before buying a used vehicle check that it hasn't been reported stolen, that it isn't seriously damaged or that it isn't still subject to finance
