Public Consultation & Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
Guidance on how you can get involved and influence the preparation of the Local Development Framework is set out in our consultation strategy, the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). It also sets out how we will seek to involve you in the planning process, including guidance on the consideration of planning applications within the Borough through the Development Control process.
Details of when public consultation stages for the Local Development Framework are scheduled to take place are set out in our Local Development Scheme (LDS), which is our guide to the LDF and the planning system. This also sets out when any Independent Examinations (Public Inquiries) are due to happen and the expected final adoption dates for each LDF document.

How to Respond to LDF Public Consultation Exercises
Responses (including written representations of support or objection) should be made using the appropriate statutory response form corresponding to the consultation stage of the document you wish to make comments on. Unless otherwise stated when alternative document-specific response forms or questionnaires are provided, the following forms should be used for commenting on all draft LDF documents at the corresponding consultation stage:
- Questionnaire response forms for making representations on ‘preferred options’ draft documents;
- Response form for making representations on ‘submission draft’ documents.
These can be downloaded from the main LDF section of our Document Library.
General comments (ie. where the above statutory response forms are not appropriate) can be made using the LDF General Comments response form.
