Public Consultation
Issues and Options Consultation
Public consultation on the Local Development Framework (LDF) began during summer 2004, following enactment of the Government's new planning legislation. We have already consulted on initial key Issues and Options.
Read the Issue and Options Consultation Results.
Complimentary to this report, the following Sustainability Appraisal reports are also available:
Analysis of these results provided some good information about how residents would like to see South Tyneside develop in the future. This information will help better inform the draft LDF Strategy, policies and proposals. We will be consulting in more detail on the 'preferred options' in summer 2005.
Before the formal LDF public consultation exercise, and recognising the early linkages with the Council's Community Strategy, the Council consulted its Citizens' Panel in October 2003 on the Review of the Community Strategy and New Buildings and Structures in the Borough, the latter part of the questionnaire survey being based on an initial UDP Review draft Issues and Options Paper.
At the same time, a series of 6 Neighbourhood Days were also held within each of the Community Area Forums (CAFs).
The results of this preparatory consultation are presented in the following papers:
