Local Development Scheme
The Local Development Scheme (LDS), together with its technical appendices, sets out what local development documents we intend to produce, their coverage, and the programme timetable for the various stages of their production.

Local development documents
The Local Development Framework includes a portfolio of Local Development Documents (LDD):
- Development Plan Documents (DPD) - including the core strategy and policies, development control policies, site-specific land allocations, proposals map, and Area Action Plans (AAP)
- Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) – such as development briefs, design briefs and other additional supporting guidance
- Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) - all LDDs will be subject to appropriate public consultation in accordance with the SCI
The statutory Development Plan includes the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) and the Development Plan Documents (DPDs) within the LDF.
Independent examination
All Development Plan Documents plus the Statement of Community Involvement will be subject to independent examination (public inquiry).
All Local Development Documents will be subject to sustainability appraisal which includes Strategic Environmental Appraisal (SEA).

The council's progress in achieving the programme identified in the Local Development Scheme will be reviewed annually as part of the Annual Monitoring Report (AMR).
