Types of Cases
The type of cases the Group deals with are often vacant premises or plots of land suffering from neglect, vandalism, the dumping of rubbish or becoming overgrown. The Council has legal powers under the Planning and Building Acts and Environmental Health Legislation that can be used in many Cases. The Council also has powers to carry out works or to Compulsory Purchase in certain circumstances.
However, it should be noted that straightforward cases and serious cases where immediate action is required will continue to be dealt with under existing procedures.
