Who can apply for the grant?
Any adult carer who provides unpaid practical and/or emotional support to an adult who lives in South Tyneside, so that they can remain in their own home.
As a local authority, we must ensure that we provide support to people who have the greatest need. Therefore we will consider the extent of your caring role, and the impact it has on you, as part of this application process.
If the person you care for is not in contact with the local authority, you may need to undertake a carer’s assessment before your application can proceed to panel for a decision.
