What can I use the grant for?
The costs associated with you taking a break. Either:
- The costs of your break while someone else takes over your caring role
- The costs associated with someone who does not live with you coming with you on your break, to take over your caring role
- The costs associated with someone taking your friend or relative away somewhere while you stay at home
- To costs associated with someone else caring for your friend or relative for more frequent, shorter periods of time, to give you a break
The grant cannot pay for whole families to go on holiday. It is specifically to ensure a break for the carer from their caring role.
Other examples
- Opportunities that increase your ability to provide care, such as driving lessons
- Other services that give you a break (such as leisure/relaxation opportunities)
- Training opportunities that you may find useful
