Affordable Warmth is about being able to achieve sufficient warmth within the home at reasonable cost. The Strategy sets out how how South Tyneside Council will secure affordable warmth for the Borough's residents.
Warmer Homes Grant Enquiry
Residents who own their property or rent from a private landlord may benefit from a Warmer Homes Grant for the following measures:
- Free/discounted loft insulation
- Free/discounted cavity wall insulation
- Central heating renewal/repairs
- Upgrade of heating controls
- Draught proofing
- Low energy light bulbs
- Radiator reflectors
- Discount voucher for A rated appliances (washing machine, fridge, freezer and fridge-freezer).
To qualify for a Warmer Homes Grant residents must:
- have children under 16... or
- have someone in the property over 60... or
- have someone in the property suffering a disability or long-term illness... and
- have an income of less than £24,000 per year or be living in fuel poverty... and
- have a home that has a low energy rating (a survey will be carried out by a qualified energy assessor to determine the energy rating of the property)
If you do not meet the criteria above we may still be able to assist with discounted insulation and energy efficiency schemes.
South Tyneside Warmer Homes Grants aim to supplement other grant measures you may receive.
