What are Supported Housing Services?
Supported Housing services can be provided to you within your own home or within safe accommodation that you can move into.
Supported Housing services can provide practical advice and support such as:
- Making sure you feel safe and secure where you are living
- Help to manage responsibilities such as and budgeting
- Advice on which benefits you may be entitled to claim
- Assistance in accessing a wide range of other services and support groups
Supported Housing services will help you to do things for yourself and learn to become more independent within your home and the community.
How do I find support services in my area?
Use the Supporting People directory to find services in South Tyneside:
How do I know if the services offered are good?
The Supporting People team must check that all the services provided are high quality and meet a minimum standard.
If a service does not meet these minimum standards, the Supporting People team will help and advise organisations to make changes to improve the quality of service delivered.
Do I have to pay for Supporting People services?
Supporting People offers short term services and long term services depending upon your needs. Short term services are free to anyone who needs to access them.
If you need to access a longer term service this must be paid for, however if you are in receipt of Housing Benefit Supporting People will pay for your service.
If you are not in receipt of Housing Benefit but have a low income you can contact us to request a financial assessment to see if you are eligible for help with paying for your service.
