Britain in Bloom is the largest horticultural campaign in Europe and involves hundreds of communities each year.
The event creates lasting environmental improvements for residents, visitors and future generations and is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

In Bloom
In Bloom involves contributions from the council and community groups and organisations.
The campaign also concentrates on the involvement of local communities, the cleanliness of the environment, conservation and recycling.
Judging
The judges visit our towns and villages in the spring and summer, meeting local In Bloom committee groups/friends of the park and hear about events that have taken place.
The towns and villages that are entered are:
- Boldon
- Cleadon
- Harton (new for 2008)
- Hebburn
- Jarrow
- South Shields Coast
- Westoe
- Whitburn
