Jobs and EnterpriseGross weekly pay in South Tyneside
While the % Change in weekly pay shows a better performance for North East and South Tyneside as compared to Great Britain as a whole, the wage figures at local authority level are subject to a greater margin of error – so the narrowing of the gap implied by these figures may be real, or it may not be. Full-Time Weekly Gross WagesBetween 2002 and 2007 (latest figures) gross weekly full-time pay in South Tyneside increased by 8.4%, from £358.6 per week to £388.7 per week. This was about half the national average (16.9%), and regional average (16.7%). Between 2002 and 2006, full time gross pay in Great Britain rose from £392.7 to £449.6 per week, the North East saw wages rise from £343.2 to £393.6 per week. Part-Time Weekly Gross WagesThe average part time pay is less than half that for the average weekly wage for all employees, so in 2007 the average part-time weekly wage for South Tyneside was £146.8 per week compared to £313 per week for all employees. However the data for part-time workers is subject to an even greater level of error and should be treated with caution.

Since the ASHE is based on a survey some of the change could be caused by sampling variations. Date of Next Update : December 2008 |
