Housing, Environment and TransportVersion 5, May 2008 Planning Applications - speed of decision makingThe Council’s Area Planning Group has a number of Best Value Performance Indicators. These are monitored by Central Government and local authorities are ranked in accordance with performance against these Government targets. Details of Area Planning’s performance against the Government targets are provided below. Performance in all three areas remains well above the government targets.
Source: Development Control Statistics BV 109a measures the percentage of major applications processed in 13 weeks. The Council decided 22 major applications in 2007/08 and 21 were processed within 13 weeks. BV109b measures the percentage of minor applications processed within the statutory 8 weeks. The government target is 65% and last year Area Planning achieved 88%. Minor applications include 1-10 dwellings and new office and retail development that do not fall within the major category. BV109c measures the percentage of other applications, such as house extensions, processed in 8 weeks. The government target is 80% and in 2007/08 we achieved 91%.
