Safer & Stronger CommunitiesVersion 5, May 2008 Domestic burglaries per 1,000 householdsIn 2007-2008, South Tyneside demonstrated a rate of 7.5 domestic burglaries per 1,000 households. Only North Tyneside has a lower domestic burglary rate ( 6.6 domestic burglaries per 1,000 households). It is also well above the Tyne and Wear average of 9.5 per 1000 households. The 2007/8 rate for South Tyneside represents a 51% reduction in the rate since 2003/2004. The reduction in the rate of domestic burglaries is the result of the combined efforts of the Police, the Community and the Partners through the Local Strategic Partnership, and the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
