Safer & Stronger CommunitiesVersion 3, May 2008
Theft from a person per 1000 populationSouth Tyneside demonstrates only 0.8 per thousand people thefts from the person during 2007/2008. This is a reduction from 7.3 per 1000 population since targets were set in 2003, and below the Tyne and Wear average of 0.9% per thousand head of population. This shows a reduction of 53% since the baseline was set in 2003/2004. The reduction in the rate of thefts is the result of the combined efforts of the Police, the Community and the Partners through the Local Strategic Partnership, and the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. These figures (and other crime rate statistics) are reported to the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership Strategy Group to help prioritise police and partner resources.
