The courses are provided by the South Tyneside Adult and Community Learning service.  Most of our courses are based on 'First Steps' learning which is primarily aimed at:

  • those who don't have 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) graded A-C
  • those who have not been in learning for a long time
  • people with low literacy and numeracy skills
  • those who are unemployed and disadvantaged.

Those who qualify for 'First Steps' will most likely be eligible for a free course or help in paying for their course.  This will be decided before enrolment.

All of our courses are run in partnership with South Tyneside College, some community and voluntary groups, and other learning providers including the WEA.

Enrolment:

Call 0800 073 1772 if you are interested in any of the courses available.  We will then get back to you to confirm your start date and venue.  All courses are offered subject to sufficient enrolment numbers being met.

We will be enroling people on courses continually throughout the year, so there will be plenty of opportunities to enrol.  A lot of our courses run over a 10 week period or less, so if you miss the start of one, don't worry.

Alternatively if you are interested in a course not listed on this site or you are part of a group who has an idea for a new course please call 0800 073 1772.  We rely on your input, so let us know and we'll try to provide the right course for you.
