Bede's Way
Bede's Way is a walking and cycling route devised to link the twin sites of the Anglo-Saxon monastery of St Peter's in Monkwearmouth, Sunderland, with St Paul's in Jarrow.
The route follows a safe and enjoyable path through the Great North Forest, offering twelve miles of rich and varied landscape.
Bede's Way is a joint project funded and supported through a number of different partners, including South Tyneside Council, Sunderland Council, Bede's World, the Great North Forest and the Tyne and Wear Rural Transport Partnership.
Bede's Way is a key initiative supporting and developing the World Heritage Site bid for Wearmouth-Jarrow.
