Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days is the nation's biggest and most popular free celebration of architecture, history and culture. The weekend of heritage is a part of European Heritage Days, a council of Europe initiative, where 48 countries allow the public a chance to visit heritage sites that are either not usually open to the public or would normally charge an entrance fee.

Heritage Open Days also include tours, events and activities that focus on local architecture, history and culture. The events are co-ordinated nationally by The Civic Trust with core funding from English Heritage plus the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, the council of Europe and The History Channel.

Heritage Open Days 2008 will take place from Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th September.

If you are interested in organising an event or opening a building for Heritage Open Days then please visit www.civictrust.org.uk for more information.
