Flick holds many events during the year and
especially during the holiday periods. The events that have been
held at the library so far in 2004 are Cyber Chaos, Infectious Grooves
drumming workshops and much, much more. Please contact Flick for
future planned events or if you have an event you would like to hold
at the library.
Flick also holds regular craft events during
school holiday periods. Please contact Flick for further information
and availability of places.
You will also be able to see members of Flick
staff at events, such as the Early Years Fair, throughout South Tyneside.
Look out for our stall and us where we will have lots of interesting
things to make and do (and books of course).
Every Year South Tyneside holds it Summer Holiday
Reading Club at each of its libraries and at numerous centres across
the borough, in connection with the Summer Holiday Reading Challenge.
There are always lots of great new books, an arts competition, quizzes,
puzzles, colourings-in, craft workshops and prizes. Come along this
summer and join in the fun. Contact Flick for further details.
NCBF The Northern Children's Book Festival
takes place, during two weeks, early November throughout the North
East of England culminating in a themed Gala Day.
Well known children's authors and illustrators
give talks about and performances of their work in schools across
the region. In 2004 as well as taking authors into various schools,
South Tyneside Libraries, alongside the Schools Library Service,
hosted two mini gala days, one at Bede's World and one at the Central
Library, inviting hundreds of children from schools across the borough
to come and meet their favourite authors. Twilight sessions were
also held for members of the public to come along. The event is held
annually, so please contact Flick if you are interested in meeting
an author in 2005.
