Your baby can enjoy Baby Bounce, a 20-minute
session of knee bouncing, finger and action rhymes designed to encourage
interaction between parents and babies and to stimulate early language
development.
It is an opportunity to meet other new parents
and to find out about the best new books for babies.
The session is for babies under 18 months old
(and their parents) and takes place weekly at Flick on Tuesday mornings
between 10.30-10.50am (and also at Jarrow and Hebburn libraries).
Coffee mornings are held every Tuesday morning
at Flick at 10.00-12.00am (except for school holidays). There is
coffee and tea for the parents, juice and biscuits for the children,
lots of toys, jigsaws, colouring-in and books. Come along to meet
other parents in a bright and friendly atmosphere.
Wiggle and jiggle takes place at the end of
coffee mornings and is 15 minutes of fun action rhymes, finger rhymes
and songs designed to encourage participation, co-operation, interaction
and language development.
Your baby's Bookstart pack is available from
your health visitor at baby's 8-month health check. Each pack contains
books for the baby, information and advice on developing early reading
skills and an invite to join the library. A further bag of books
is available at the 2-year health check. Please contact your health
visitor for further information.
Every three months we hold our "Youngest baby
to join the library" competition. The winner receives a hamper full
of the best books for babies. If you've just had a baby why not come
along to the library, enter our competition and join in our baby
bounce sessions.
Storytots is a fun story time session for pre-school
children with the best new stories, old favourites, songs and rhymes.
The sessions are themed and include a craft and refreshments.
Storytots takes place at Flick on Tuesday and
Wednesday afternoons 2.15-3.00pm or Thursday mornings, 9.30-10.30am.
There is a waiting list to join Storytots at
Flick so please put your child's name down early to avoid disappointment.
Storytots also takes place in each of the branch libraries.
