School meals

Milk

The council continues to provide milk to all school pupils until such a time as they complete their primary school education.

The permitted quantity of milk for each pupil is one-third of a pint per day and is available during term time only.

All primary school children who are eligible to receive free school meals are also entitled to receive milk free of charge.

All nursery school pupils irrespective of their circumstances are entitled to receive milk free of charge until such time they transfer to a primary school.

Milk is available to all other primary schoolchildren on payment of a termly charge. The current payment is £4.75 per term.

The charge for milk is subsidised by the European Community and the Welfare Food Reimbursement Unit.
