Bullying
What should I do if my child is being bullied?
If your child is experiencing bullying at school you should make an appointment to speak or write to the head teacher of your child's school.
You should tell the head teacher your concerns and try to resolve the issue wherever possible.
What can you do?
Tell someone
Who?
Their teacher, learning mentor, support worker or head teacher
How?
- Speak to a teacher, learning mentor, support worker or head teacher
- Ask the school for a copy of their anti-bullying policy and action plan
- Work with the school and support your child - this may take time
- Be prepared to listen and ask for advice
If you still feel that matters have not been resolved, you can contact the Chair of Governors of your school.
If the problem still remains unresolved the Department for Children, Schools and Families may investigate the allegations with the school.
Together we can make a difference, every child in South Tyneside matters.
