Transforming Our Primary Schools (TOPS)

Harton Primary
Planning permission for the building of the new primary school at Harton to replace Harton Infant and Junior schools was granted on 16 November, 2009.
It is anticipated that building works will begin on site in January 2010.
Stanhope Primary and new primary school at Whiteleas
The new school to replace Albert Elliott, Temple Park Infants and Temple Park Juniors and the new school for Stanhope Primary school are in the process of being designed.
The governors, officers of the council and the architects (Inspired Spaces) are working together to put together plans for 21st Century, modern, efficient, schools which will serve the whole community.
New primary school at Hebburn
The competition to establish a new primary school for Hebburn closed on 8 February 2010.
Only one proposal was submitted, and this was the council's own proposal. A copy of this can be accessed below.
A public meeting about this proposal will be held on 11 March 2010 at 6pm at Hebburn Comprehensive School, Campbell Park Road, Hebburn.
At this meeting the council will present its proposal and answer questions about it.
Representation for or against the proposal can be made until 12 April 2010. This can be done by letter to the TOPS Team at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields or by email to TOPS@southtyneside.gov.uk
