Transforming Our Primary Schools (TOPS)

Harton Primary
Planning permission for the building of the new primary school at Harton to replace Harton Infant and Junior schools was granted on 16 November, 2009.
Contracts with Carillion who will be building the new school are due to be signed on 14 December 2009.
It is anticipated that building works will begin on site in January 2010.
Stanhope Primary and new primary school at Whiteleas
The new school to replace Albert Elliott, Temple Park Infants and Temple Park Juniors and the new school for Stanhope Primary school are in the process of being designed.
The governors, officers of the council and the architects (Inspired Spaces) are working together to put together plans for 21st Century, modern, efficient, schools which will serve the whole community.
New primary school at Hebburn
The new primary school to replace Lukes Lane and Bedewell Primary Schools is scheduled to open in September 2012 on the Hebburn Comprehensive school site. The competition process is now underway and the council will put in a bid to run the new school.
