All young people involved with the Youth Service in South Tyneside have the opportunity to take part in accredited learning through various awarding bodies. Youth Service also holds an operating license for the Duke of Edinburgh Award in South Tyneside.
The award is a challenging programme of activities, which will help young people learn new skills, help others and experience adventure, giving young people a great sense of achievement. Participation in the award gives the young people of South Tyneside real and exciting opportunities to learn new skills and develop as young people. The award work is also recognised by many organisations such as employers and universities who take a good view of the award and what it says about the person who has achieved it.
