About the YPP
South Tyneside’s Young People’s Parliament has been set up so that young people in the borough have the opportunity to have their voices heard. Our team of 14 youth councillors offer a network across the borough for any young person who would like to get in touch with them for any reason.
Our purpose is to meet the criteria set out by local government, such as:
- Every Child Matters, the Children's Plan
- Building Brighter futures (December 2007)
- Aiming high: a 10 year strategy for positive activities (July 2007)
We do this by ensuring all young people are actively involved in and participate in shaping their communities and services throughout South Tyneside.
South Tyneside's Young People’s Parliament reaches out to all young people in schools, youth clubs and centre's, detached projects, looked after care and all projects involving young people within the borough.
Those who get involved can have fun whilst developing valuable skills and abilities to help improve their lives.
