The Data Protection Act 1998 regulates the processing of information, relating to individuals including the obtaining, holding, use or disclosure of such information.
The Act places a legal responsibility on the Council to ensure that data collected and processed receives the highest level of protection. The Act also provides individuals who are the subject of personal data (data subjects) with certain rights to ensure that data held is accurate and up to date.
Make a Subject Access Request
If you wish to make a subject access request to find out what information is held about you there are a number of ways you can contact us. You can either
- submit a Subject Access Request Form electronically
- email us at dataprotection@southtyneside.gov.uk, or
- write to us at the following address: Records Management Team Leader, Westoe Road, Town Hall, South Shields, Tyne and Wear, NE33 2RL.
