From 1st January 2005 the Freedom of Information Act will give every person the right to access information recorded and held by local authorities subject to certain conditions and exemptions. The intention of the Act is to provide a culture of greater openness and accountability for public bodies.

South Tyneside Council has a duty to respond to information requests and will advise accordingly if information is available.
