An application for funding of £157.5k over 3 years was approved by the Jarrow Neighbourhood Management Partnership Board on Tuesday 25 September.

Environment
A group made up of residents and service providers met on 13 September 2007 to discuss environmental issues and the following suggestions for improvements were made:
- Blitz of the whole neighbourhood management area
- Employ a Caretaker/Enforcement Officer for the area to ensure that the area is kept tidy after the clean up
- Wildlife/information boards placed along River Don
- Signs at entrances to inform people of the River Don, the public footpath, wildlife and include contact details of who to contact if fly tipping has occurred or area is untidy
- Graffiti clean up and anti-graffiti paint on targeted areas, such as street furniture
- Clean up of River Don
- Garden service and enforcement for residents to keep gardens tidy
- Covert CCTV at trouble spots
- Linking in with Groundwork’s Green Gym and walking project
The Neighbourhood Manager is working with agencies in the area to complete a detailed brief for decision at the next Board meeting on Tuesday 30 October so keep checking the website for updates in November.
