What we have to offer?
School leavers
We have over 35 A Level offerings and more than 60 vocational programmes aimed at school leavers. Whether you want to study a variety of A Level topics such as Film Studies, Criminology and Sociology, or would like to complete a more hands-on qualification the College has a course to suit everyone.
Businesses
The College is continually building up strong links with businesses throughout the Borough and offers corporate training to those employers that feel their employees could benefit from specialist training. We can tailor our courses to meet the training needs of businesses and our experienced lecturers are on hand to share their expertise with your staff.
Professional studies
Are you an aspiring manager? Or do you already work in a managerial role but don’t possess any professional qualifications? If you want to be at the top of your profession, you can enhance your professional development with our range of nationally recognised qualifications. Many of our courses have been accredited by leading awarding bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management.
Adult Studies
Are you looking for a career change? Perhaps you want to learn a new skill? At South Tyneside College we have a variety of courses created for mature students. From our Access into Higher Education programme which is good preparation for university or short courses in IT or Art and Design topics, there is something to suit everyone’s needs.
Marine
South Tyneside College is the National Centre of Vocational Excellence for Marine Engineering and Nautical Science. We are world renowned for the quality of our maritime training. We provide first class teaching, extensive resources and onsite accommodation.

There are a variety of courses on offer covering vocational skills, personal skills and basic skills.
Who are we in touch with?
We have links with a whole range of external bodies locally, including South Tyneside Council, G6, schools, universities, a variety of government bodies and hundreds of local companies. We also have a strategic link with the National Welding Institute and very strong links with regional, national and international employers including major shipping companies.
Our role in the LSP
South Tyneside College works closely with partnerships throughout the Borough to ensure that the community strategy is met. It’s at the heart of the community and aims to meet the needs of all its students.
