What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest news, events and vacancies from southtyneside.info in one place, as soon as they’re published, without having to visit the website.
Use a RSS reader to pick up the feeds and translate them into easy to view content summaries. The reader can check our website regularly for any updates and automatically pull down headlines and story summaries right to your desktop.
How do I get a news reader?
There is a range of different news readers available and new versions are appearing all the time.
Different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer.

I've got a News Reader, how do I get the feed?
If you click on the
button of the feed you want, you can subscribe to it in various ways:
- drag the URL of the feed into your news reader
- cut and paste the same URL into a new feed in your news reader
- some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to feeds much easier.
